Barcelona and Atletico Madrid ‘reach agreement over Antoine Griezmann deal’

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are said to have reached an agreement on a deadline day deal for Antoine Griezmann, a French forward.

Barca, who paid over £100 million to purchase the Frenchman from Real Madrid in 2019, are rumored to have been looking to transfer the 30-year-old over the summer as they struggle financially.

Griezmann scored 94 goals in 180 appearances for Los Colchoneros after joining from Real Sociedad in 2014. He then moved to the Camp Nou for a record fee for a departing player.

Since joining the Blaugrana, the World Cup winner has made 74 appearances for the club, scoring 22 goals and adding the Copa del Rey to his trophy collection.

While there have been rumors of a swap deal for Joao Felix, who arrived at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano after Griezmann’s departure, Florent Torchut claims the clubs are close to agreeing on a loan deal with an option to buy.

Griezmann would be returning to Diego Simeone’s team after they won La Liga last season, ending a seven-year wait for the top-flight crown.
