West Ham twice throws away lead to draw 2-2 with Palace

LONDON, England (AP) – Crystal Palace came from behind twice to tie 2-2 with West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday, with Conor Gallagher scoring both goals.

They were West Ham’s first points of the season after winning both of their first two games, but Patrick Vieira’s Palace are still winless with two points.

In the 39th minute, Pablo Fornals exchanged passes with Michail Antonio before scoring the game’s first goal.

Palace’s Wilfried Zaha was cutting an increasingly agitated figure, which was exacerbated when he blazed over early in the second half.

However, the Ivory Coast forward would play a key role in the equalizer, crossing for Christian Benteke to tip down to Gallagher, whose close-range shot past Lukasz Fabianski in the 58th minute.

Despite being on the back foot, Antonio demonstrated his worth as a striker by outmuscling Joachim Andersen and firing past Vicente Guaita to put West Ham back in front.

The lead would only last two minutes this time, as Gallagher was found inside the box by Palace captain James McArthur, who dragged back and finished to bring Vieira’s side level once more.

Despite having more possession, West Ham came closest to scoring when Marc Guehi headed a free kick from Gallagher over the top in stoppage time.
