Mauricio Pochettino, the head coach of Paris Saint-Germain, believes Kylian Mbappe will stay with the club for the start of the season.
PSG fans booed Mbappe when he failed to sign a new contract at the Parc des Princes, and he is reportedly unsettled by the arrival of Lionel Messi on a free transfer from Barcelona.
He is under contract until the end of the season, and there has been talk that Mbappe will be the subject of an offer from Real Madrid, a club with which he has long been linked. PSG do not want to lose Mbappe on a free transfer, which is a foregone conclusion if he does not move in the current or winter transfer window.
PSG has added Sergio Ramos, Achraf Hakimi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Georginio Wijnaldum this season, as well as recently signing Neymar to a new contract, so they may contemplate letting Mbappe leave a season early to balance the books.
Mauricio Pochettino stated at a news conference on Thursday afternoon that the striker is unconcerned about rumors and does not believe he will leave the club anytime soon.
“I think Mbappé is in really good spirits,” Pochettino stated. He is extremely focused on having a successful season.
WHAT WE ARE THINKING, AS I HAVE BEEN SAYING, IS THAT KYLIAN IS OUR PLAYER AND I DO NOT SEE THAT HE IS NOT HERE IN THE SEASON THAT WE STARTED A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO.
“The truth is that I enjoy this period (with the transfer window still open), and I approach it with a sense of humour and optimism. Football has a period like this.
“Some things are said and said based on personal experience; some may or may not be real, but many are not.
“What matters is that he is composed, and the club understands what they are going to do. We know Kylian is our player; he is composed and focused on tomorrow’s match.
MY CONVERSATION WITH KYLIAN IS ALWAYS ALL ABOUT FOOTBALL, ABOUT WHAT HE HAS TO DO THE NEXT DAY.
“He has one more year on his contract, and if he doesn’t renew it, he will be fired.
“He is a PSG player, and he is delighted with us and with us.”
