On Friday, Arsenal finalized the acquisitions of midfielder Martin Odegaard and goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, bringing the Premier League club’s total summer spending to above $150 million.
Odegaard, a 22-year-old Norway international, spent the second half of last season on loan from Real Madrid and has signed a long-term contract with Arsenal following a rumoured cost of 35 million euros ($41 million).
“You’ve seen the numbers and what we did after Martin joined the team… the team performed at a completely different level, “Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, stated. “He improved us; we needed more alternatives, innovation, and options. He has a special knack for the type of game we want to play.”
Last season, Odegaard made 20 appearances for the north London club and scored two goals. The team did not provide specifics, although it was said to be a five-year deal.
