On Friday, Arsenal finalized the acquisitions of midfielder Martin Odegaard and goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, bringing the Premier League club’s total summer spending to above $150 million.

Odegaard, a 22-year-old Norway international, spent the second half of last season on loan from Real Madrid and has signed a long-term contract with Arsenal following a rumoured cost of 35 million euros ($41 million).

“You’ve seen the numbers and what we did after Martin joined the team… the team performed at a completely different level, “Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, stated. “He improved us; we needed more alternatives, innovation, and options. He has a special knack for the type of game we want to play.”

Last season, Odegaard made 20 appearances for the north London club and scored two goals. The team did not provide specifics, although it was said to be a five-year deal.

Odegaard had been signed by Madrid as a teenager and had been loaned out to Vitesse Arnhem and Real Sociedad before joining Arsenal.

Odegaard will miss the encounter against Chelsea on Sunday. Arsenal lost 2-0 at Brentford to start the Premier League season.

Ramsdale joined the club later Friday after being relegated from the Premier League with Sheffield United last season. The previous season, he was also relegated with Bournemouth.

Bernd Leno will have competition from Ramsdale, who is moving for a rumored sum of 24 million pounds ($32.7 million).

Arsenal also acquired England center back Ben White for 50 million pounds ($68 million) from Brighton.
